Just to remind you all that the Anderson/ Air Raid Shelter homework is due in this Friday.

Thank you

What a wonderful art and friendship week we’ve had! So much amazing artwork, so many smiley faces- what more could you ask for!

A huge well done to everyone who brought in homework this week, you’re all stars! Come and visit our classroom to see the amazing work that’s displayed.

This afternoon, Google Legends came to visit and taught us all about internet safety.

Following our visit to Bradford Industrial Museum, we created our own Victorian Museum in School and invited all KS2 to visit.

Bradford Industrial Museum

What an amazing day we had!

On Friday, Year 6 had a fantastic day at Bradford Industrial Museum. We spent the morning as Victorian students in the Moorside Board School and in the afternoon, we went to work in the mills and took part in drama activities.

This Wednesday, we will be creating our own Victorian museum in school.

In Year 6, we have been refracting light this week. We took lots of photos of the two experiments we conducted. These photos will be added on Monday.

We’ve had an incredibly busy week in Year 6. We’ve started writing poems about our class text ‘Street Child’, when we  finish writing them, we will post some examples on here-watch this space!

Today, our Siddal football team (comprised of pupils from Y5 and Y6) played against Field Lane Primary School. They had a rocky start, and at

one point they were losing 1-2, however they came back and ended up winning 6-3! Well done Siddal!

Come and cheer on the Year 5 and 6 pupils as they take on St. Joseph’s in the first round of the FC Halifax Town 5-a-side Half Time Cup in front of 2000 fans and the BT Sport cameras! COME ON SIDDAL!

Light up our lives!

In Year 6, we have been ‘Superb, Sensational Scientists’ this week. We have been learning about reflecting light, we measured incident rays and reflected rays.

This activity is incredibly easy to emulate at home, please ask your children what they did and have a go at reflecting light!

All we ever get is gruel!

In Year 6, we have been learning about the Victorian Workhouses. The class were interested to find out what gruel was, so… we made some!

We made it with water… then we made it with onions (posh gruel). Finally, we modernised the recipe, added milk and yes, we had some yummy porridge.

Fun times in Year 6!

Yes! That’s correct, we have already been back at school over a week!

What a wonderful week we’ve had! In Maths, Year 6 have perfected rounding and are now learning about negative numbers. In English, they are creating a play script linked to our class text ‘Street Child’

Keep checking in on the blog, to see what else we have been doing.

Mrs Woodhead and Mrs Hopkinson

Only one more week of the holidays. I hope you’re all having a fabulous time. While you’ve been having fun, I’ve been in school getting our classroom ready- just need it to be filled with your happy faces now. Can’t wait to see you all!
