Elephants have really enjoyed a creative afternoon after a busy week.  We have finished our Iron Man topic by making models of Iron Man.  The children have worked in small groups and created some amazing models.

We have visited the outdoor area to put out our bug hotels.  We will keep an eye on them to see if we have any residents.

With Remembrance Sunday approaching, we have spent some time learning about the significance of poppies.  The children have made some contributions to a school display in the hall.  I was particularly impressed with some of the poetry that the children created.  Well done Elephants.

We have started our new topic about the Romans.  The children have been really keen to learn more about them and have come up with lots of ideas about what they would like to find out about.

Today we spent some time looking at non-fiction books in English, looking for the features needed to write our own.  It was so pleasing to see their excitement when they were discovering new facts as well as finding familiar facts.

Homework over the holidays is to make a bug hotel.  I can’t wait to see what the children come up with!!

We had a fantastic trip to Heptonstall Museum yesterday.  The children made their own coins and they thoroughly enjoyed the graveyard, especially when they found familiar names and possible ancestry to one of our own children.

It was amazing to see so many scary faces at the Halloween Disco last night.  Thank you to those who looked after my daughter.  I hope you all had as good a time as she did.

Elephants have been learning a French song about fruits ready for Harvest Festival.  Please practice at home.  They all have a copy of the words and the song can be found on youtube if you search for French songs about fruit.

Year 4 have been in the woodland area searching for invertebrates.  We found some bug hotels and took a peek to see if anything was living inside.

N.B. Last year’s Year 4 pupils made these bug hotels. I hope they are still intact and home to some residents! Mr Battye. 🙂

YSP Visit

The children had a brilliant day at YSP.  They sketched their favourite sculptures, looked out for familiar animals to catagorise, and collected resources to make their own Iron Man sculptures.
